Why waste precious indoor space on a trash can when you can simply dig a hole somewhere? This pit holds over 3x more garbage than any standard receptacle. When full, you can either bury it or burn it and reuse the pit again. No more lengthy trash-dropping voyages to the big gray can by the mailbox. Fires won’t spread and flies won’t buzz, all of which make it the ultimate hassle-free trash disposal system. Nature! Well, except for the trash part.
Additional Details:
If garbage is a recurring problem on your lot, placing a few trash pits around can save you a lot of time. These can be used both indoors and outdoors, but only on grass or dirt surfaces—essentially, areas where digging a hole makes sense.
A standard trash can holds 3 armfuls of garbage, while a trash pit can hold up to 10.
You have two options for disposing of trash in the pit:
- Burning it: This empties the pit, allowing it to be reused indefinitely.
- Burying it or filling the hole: This removes the trash permanently, along with the pit itself.
When burning trash:
- Sims with a Playful trait above 4 gain a significant Fun boost.
- Other Sims receive a smaller Fun boost.
- Sims with an Outdoors interest above 5 lose a small amount of Fun due to ecological concerns.
About the fire:
- It won’t spread or cause panic, and it doesn’t disrupt gameplay like regular fires.
- Sims standing nearby may react to the smell, but it’s not loud or alarming.
- You can extinguish the fire if desired, and it won’t trigger fire alarms or summon the Tragic Clown.
Maids, neat visitors, and similar NPCs may burn trash if the pit is full, just as they would empty a standard trash can.
Trash pits can be used at home or on away-from-home lots (if properly categorized). On non-home lots, the pit will never fill up, functioning like a standard trash can.
